At Travel Lemming, we have something we call the “friends and family test.” It means we won’t publish a guide unless it’s so good that we would give it to our own friends and family. And, in fact, we often do exactly that.

We try hard to make the kind of honest, reliable, and helpful travel guides that we would want to use ourselves. We hire local creators. We give our creators budgets to visit places and try new restaurants. We take many original photos so we can show you how places really look. We buy products with our own money so we can give honest recommendations. We have rigorous editorial standards, with every piece of content going through multiple levels of editorial review.

But producing content at our quality standards is, quite frankly, expensive.

And it’s getting harder and harder for small independent publications like us to turn a profit.

You see, the big tech companies are trying to close off the Internet. They want to make it so you never leave their platform, and thus never read our guides.

Meanwhile, new artificial intelligence technologies are being used by bad actors to copy our content and spam the Internet. Already, it’s getting harder and harder to find our guides – even when you’re explicitly searching for them – among the sea of AI content.

The bottom line is that, in order to survive, we need our readership to start coming directly to Travel Lemming to plan their travels.

By subscribing to Travel Lemming Passport, you’re helping us to continue producing human-first travel guides. And, since your subscription means we can afford to turn off the display ads for you, you’ll get to enjoy those guides in a distraction-free environment.

We are incredibly grateful to our Passport subscribers for supporting us.

Our promise to you is that we will do everything we can to make sure you get value out of your Passport. We want it to be your passport to the world, and we want to help you travel better, cheaper, and further without content.

Thank you for supporting our independent travel guides!

FAQs About Travel Lemming’s Passport Subscription

Travel Lemming Passport is a digital subscription service that gives subscribers access to Travel Lemming’s library of over 1,500 travel guides, all without display advertising. Coming in 2024, it will also include bonuses like special discounts and subscriber-only content.

Travel Lemming currently accepts PayPal, Google Pay, Apple Pay, and all major credit cards.

Travel Lemming Passport holders simply have to login to view all content ad-free. You can find the login link in our menu under “Sign In.” Or you can sign in here.

Currently about a third of our library of guides is accessible only to Passport holders. We have some more ideas for some super-useful and interesting content, but we also invite ideas from our Passport holders! Just email [email protected] and tell us what you would like us to create for you!

Not yet, but it’s something we hope to do in the future.
