There are restaurants, bars, and shops within walking distance when you’re finished skiing. There are also activities for non-skiers, like ice skating and the alpine coaster. You can easily spend your entire stay at Copper Mountain Ski Resort without needing to get in your car until it’s time to leave!

Frisco is just a short drive from Breckenridge. It’s a less-expensive option for lodging if you want to ski at Breck but find the places to stay in Breckenridge too pricey!
Although most Frisco lodging is downtown, there are a few condos and other places closer to Highway 9, which takes you to Breckenridge.

Tips for Staying in Frisco
Make Reservations
There are lots of fun things to do in Frisco, but several activities can sell out during peak seasons.
For example, Frisco Adventure Park is very popular during the winter months. You’ll want to make reservations for tubing well in advance. If you’re interested in a dinner or hot cocoa sleigh ride, book that in advance as well.
Stay Hydrated
Frisco is just above 9,000 feet high — and Copper Mountain Ski Resort is at an even higher elevation. You definitely need to stay hydrated!
People can get easily dehydrated in the winter when they’re not as inclined to drink water as when it’s hot outside. Make sure you have plenty of water or other hydrating beverages, regardless of the temperature.
Get Acclimated
It can take a day or two to adjust to 9,000 feet above sea level. Be gentle with yourself! If you’re planning on strenuous activities, give yourself a day or two to adjust before you tackle them. Then, challenge yourself at Colorado ski resorts when you’re feeling good.

Watch for Wildlife
Frisco and other areas of Summit County have bears, moose, elk, and other wildlife. They’re cool to see while you’re hiking, but be careful out there! Every so often, we hear stories of people being charged by elk or moose.
Use the “rule of thumb” to determine if you’re too close — stretch your hand in front of you and put up your thumb. It should cover the entire animal.
Wear Sunscreen
Sunscreen is another area where chilly winter temps can trick us! Be sure to wear sunscreen even in winter — the snow can reflect the sun’s rays and make sunburns even more likely. See our Colorado packing list for more travel essentials.
