I’m a Colorado local who’s made trips to Frisco in every season. Enjoy outdoor activities year-round in the heart of Summit County. Ski resorts, recreation on Dillon Reservoir, hiking trails, and more are all nearby.

Though small, this quaint mountain town is packed with activities. Stay a couple of days to make the most of your trip, and be sure to bookmark my guide on the best places to stay in Frisco!

Best Things to Do in Frisco

Copper Mountain

Spend the day skiing and shredding.

Copper Mountain is one of the closest ski resorts to Denver. It features lots of lodging and food options, along with rentals and snow sport lessons. 

There are three other ski resorts that are just a short drive as well — Breckenridge, Keystone, and Arapahoe Basin. Frisco makes a great home base for any of them.

Two Below Zero Sleigh Ride

Take a sleigh ride for an Old West experience.

Indulge your cowboy side with a winter sleigh ride, one of the best things to do in Colorado! Two Below Zero is near the Frisco Adventure Park and offers dinner rides, as well as scenic hot cocoa rides. The dinner ride takes you via sleigh to a backcountry camp where you’ll eat a three-course meal inside a heated tent with live music.

Frisco Nordic Center

Cross-country ski for a serious workout.

Cross-country skiing might be less-popular than downhill skiing, but it will give you a serious workout! The Frisco Nordic Center has groomed cross-country and snowshoeing trails, and rents gear as well.

Downtown Frisco

You can spend an afternoon (or longer!) browsing the gift shops, bars, and restaurants along Main Street. Views of the mountains make a gorgeous backdrop to downtown Frisco, so it’s a perfect place for coffee after skiing or a beer after a warm summer hike.

Frisco Adventure Park

Try tubing for a thrilling winter experience or explore summertime recreation.

The Frisco Adventure Park is open year-round and offers tons of family fun. In winter, there’s a tubing hill (with tubes for rent), as well as a beginners’ ski and snowboarding hill. In summer, you can hike, skateboard, play the disc golf course, and enjoy several biking trails.

Fat Biking

Go for a bike ride in the snow.

Fat biking is becoming a popular winter sport. During the snowy season, you can ride part of the groomed Summit County Rec Path which leads from Frisco to Breckenridge.

Copper Mountain Ice Skating

West Lake in Copper Mountain’s Center Village has ice skating in winter! You can skate for free if you bring your own skates. Alternatively, you can rent some for $15 from City Pop Gourmet Popcorn & Candy, which is adjacent to the lake.

Copper Mountain Alpine Coaster

Seek out high-mountain thrills.

The alpine coaster at Copper Mountain is open year-round, weather permitting. Kids 3 and up can ride; although, kids 8 and under have to ride with an adult. This is one of North America’s longest alpine coasters. You’ll get beautiful views of the mountains as you zoom along.

Rainbow Lake via Peaks Trail

Go on a quiet hike — and maybe spot a resident moose!

This area is beautiful any time of year, and is definitely worth checking out in summer and fall. But there’s something about a winter hike or snowshoe adventure when everything is eerily quiet. During this season, you can only hear the nearby stream gurgling away under the snow. Keep an eye out for moose on the trail!

Gatherhouse Glass Blowing

Bring home a unique souvenir.

Take a glass blowing class at Gatherhouse. You’ll spend some time assisting artist John Hudnut while he makes a piece. Then, you’ll get to make a small item of your own to keep.

Frisco Historic Park & Museum

Learn more about the town of Frisco.

Walk through several historic structures at the Frisco Historic Park. You’ll see exhibits and photos that share more of the town’s past. Bring some quarters to run the train diorama in the Schoolhouse Museum! I also recommend packing a picnic lunch and enjoying it at one of the tables outside.

Alpine Fishing Adventures

Get guided through a fly fishing, pontoon fishing, or ice fishing adventure.

You’ll find many places to fish in and near Frisco including Dillon Reservoir, Green Mountain Reservoir, and the Colorado River. Lily Pad Lake

Commune with nature.

The route to Lily Pad Lake is one of the White River National Forest’s most beautiful hiking trails. It takes you by beaver ponds and eventually, to the lake. It’s 3.3 miles out-and-back and is good for all levels.

Marina Park

Run off some steam.

Visiting Frisco with kids? This lakeside park is a great place to let them run. There’s a playground, grills and picnic tables, and access to the lakeshore so they can dip their toes in. It’s next to the Frisco Bay Marina, and there’s also public fishing and a boat dock.

Explore mountain beaches

You can paddle, sail, and fish on Dillon Reservoir, which most locals refer to as Lake Dillon. The Frisco Marina makes a great starting point. It rents paddleboards, kayaks, pontoon boats, power boats for fishing (water skiing is banned), and other gear.

Ten Mile Canyon National Recreation Trail

Take to the hills.

Pedal your bike along this paved path that used to be Highway 6. Those looking for a challenge can ride all the way to Copper Mountain. Your lungs might be screaming, but the views are amazing along one of Colorado’s best trails.

Kayak Park

Ride some rapids.

The Frisco Kayak Park has man-made water features where kayakers can test their skills… or spectators can watch from the shore. Above the kayak park are Class 4 and 5 sections of Ten Mile Creek, which are great for experienced kayakers.

Frisco Bike Park

Try the pump track.

Most summer activities at Frisco Adventure Park are free, including the bike park. You can try the pump track, slopestyle course, dirt jumps, and the dual slalom course. The day lodge at the park has water and restrooms available.
