Finding the best restaurants in London can be a tricky task considering it’s a multicultural city with an enormous array of culinary offerings.

I’ve lived in London for a few years and have tried many different restaurants. After stepping foot in this historic city, I can guarantee that you will not be hurting for choice.

In this article, I’ll take you through my top picks in London for food, ranging from very affordable to more fancy. Before diving in, bookmark my guide to what to do in London. Let’s dive in!

82 Best London Restaurants

Central London

Los Mochis

🍽️ Japanese & Mexican Fusion | $$$ | Website | 📍 Google Maps (City of London)

Los Mochis does a tasteful collaboration of Mexican and Japanese cuisines in their dishes. The restaurant has two beautiful locations: Notting Hill and the City of London.

This restaurant is the perfect spot for after-work drinks, date night, or an evening out with friends. The City Los Mochis location is open later than most places until 3 am Thursday through Saturday and boasts a gorgeous rooftop with views of London’s most famous skyscrapers.

Some of my favourites on the menu are the sushi rolls – I tried the cucumber avocado (pictured above), wagyu guajillo, and spicy hiramasa. The salmon on crispy rice (pictured above) was also to die for and the tacos were mouth-watering. The spicy jalapeno margaritas were my cocktail of choice.

Imad’s Syrian Kitchen

I’m a sucker for Middle Eastern food, and this happens to be a cuisine that London does incredibly well. Imad’s Syrian Kitchen is located on Carnaby street, one of Soho’s most iconic areas.

This restaurant is not only special because of the flavor-filled dishes it offers, but from the origin story it comes from. The owner Imad is a Syrian refugee who was a successful restaurateur in Damascus Syria, who lost his businesses in the war. After safely making it to London in 2015, he was able to reignite his culinary passion, opening Imad’s Syrian Kitchen in 2020.

I would recommend going with a group and sharing a bunch of items so you can maximize trying potential!

Taka Marylebone

🍽️ Japanese | $$$ | Website |📍Google Maps (Marylebone)

Taka is a gorgeous Japanese restaurant located in the upscale neighbourhood of Marylebone. Surrounded by high-end stores, it’s the perfect place to end your shopping day.

One of my biggest takeaways from the food at Taka was that everything tasted very fresh and full of flavour. They use seasonal and locally sourced ingredients to elevate their dishes, which pair perfectly with the wine, sake, beer and cocktails that are also on the menu.

My friend and I went for the signature set menu so that we could try a little bit of everything, and for 65 pounds ($87 USD) a person, it felt like a steal! The menu included a wonderful variety of 10 dishes at generous portion sizes. My favourites were the crispy cod roll (pictured above) and the wagyu sukiyaki rice.

Noble Rot

Noble Rot is an award-winning wine bar and restaurant in the heart of  Soho, along with two other locations in Mayfair and Bloomsbury. When you step inside, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to find the cosy atmosphere in such buzzy pockets of the city.

Wine bars are something that London does very well. The intimate atmosphere combined with the excellent food and the impeccable wine list is guaranteed to make your next date night or evening out with friends a special one.

Another highlight of this restaurant is the service. The servers know their stuff and will be able to point you in the direction of the best wines and dishes to satisfy your palette preferences.

Tapas Brindisa

🍽️ Spanish | $$ | Website | 📍 Google Maps

Most people have an old faithful, a local chain that is consistently good every time they visit. Tapas Brindisa is this for me. With some of the best tapas you can get outside of Spain at an affordable price, you really can’t go wrong.

The restaurant has six different locations scattered across London, including Battersea, London Bridge, Soho, South Kensington, Richmond, and Borough Market. On the menu you’ll find a range of traditional Spanish tapas plates including the likes of padrón peppers, Spanish tortilla, pan con tomate, Jamon Ibérico, patatas bravas, and more.

This is one of few places that you can also often get in without a reservation, which is great if you’re having a spontaneous day!

Bancone

🍽️ Italian | $$ | Website | 📍 Google Maps (Soho)

Bancone is a well-known Italian establishment in London, and for good reason. The spot boasts over 1.7K reviews and averages 4.5 stars, so I had to check it out. Famous for its delicate silk handkerchief pasta dish, the menu at Bancone has several decadent dishes to try out.

The food and drinks at this restaurant are not only delicious but also very affordable! You will be hard-pressed to find a negroni for 7 pounds anywhere else in London like this joint offers, and in three different flavours, might I add.

Pastas range from 9-17 pounds per plate. We started with the focaccia and burrata before digging into the pasta dishes. We tried the silk handkerchiefs, which were rich and buttery and certainly did not disappoint, along with the kale rigatoni and the spicy pork and nduja ragu mafalde.

10 Greek St.

🍽️ Modern European | $$$ | Website | 📍 Google Maps (Soho)

10 Greek Street is a small and unassuming, yet intimate, restaurant located in the heart of Soho. Make sure you’re on the lookout for the subtle sign, or you may walk right past it!

I love the cozy atmosphere and friendly staff of this restaurant. Not to mention the very creative seasonal menu of dishes that changes daily. I would highly recommend visiting with a friend or date, as the menu is designed for sharing.

On the menu, you can expect a variety of nibbles and larger plates. Dishes include seafood, tasty cuts of meat, and veggie dishes.

⚠️ Closure Note: Chiltern Firehouse is temporarily closed until further notice.

Chiltern Firehouse is the ultimate restaurant for date night. Between the intimate and cozy atmosphere, thoughtful selection of dishes, attentive service, and central London location, this restaurant is the whole package.

Set in a luxury 5-star hotel, this restaurant is award-winning and has a reputation for being frequented by celebrities in London. The dishes are based on seasonal ingredients and healthy eating, with a spin on American classics. The menu boasts everything from high-end seafood to rustic pizzas.

Located in Marylebone, you can choose between sitting in the lovely dining room or the magical patio. You’ll want to book this place well in advance of your trip for the best hopes of securing a reservation!

ROKA

🍽️ Japanese | $$$ | Website | 📍 Google Maps (Westminster)

A closeup look at the fresh sashimi, sushi, and other Japanese food at ROKA
The freshest sashimi, sushi, and other mouth-watering appetizers at ROKA

London is known for having some fantastic bottomless brunches, but I can say with confidence that ROKA is my #1 favorite.

Straying away from the typical brunch foods of avocado toast, eggs benny, or a full English, ROKA offers an exquisite selection of Japanese sharing plates, mains, and free-flowing red, white, and rosé wines and prosecco.

ROKA is a great spot to go with a group and a great excuse to dress up. There is a lot of sharing involved and the appetizers are unlimited, so the bigger the group, the better to make the most out of your experience.

Their bottomless includes appetizers such as tempura sweet potato, mouth-watering dumplings, salad, fresh sushi and sashimi, Japanese fried chicken, and more. They also serve regular lunch and dinner.

Hawksmoor

🍽️ Steak | $$$ | Website | 📍 Google Maps (Covent Garden)

Hawksmoor is a popular high-end steakhouse known for its mouth-watering cuts of meat and succulent Sunday roasts. They also offer 2 and 3-course set menus at a reasonable price.

With several locations across London, other parts of the UK, New York City, and Dubai, each Hawksmoor restaurant has its unique and elegant ambiance. I’ve visited two of the locations in London for a Sunday Roast, and the quality each time has been phenomenal.

Roasts are served with roasted garlic, beef-dripping roasted potatoes, carrots, greens, a giant Yorkshire pudding, and bone marrow gravy. This is one of the most decadent roasts you’ll find in London, so be sure to bring your appetite!

Elliot’s Borough Market

Elliot’s is a lovely restaurant, bar, and natural wine store with locations in Borough Market and Hackney. As you can probably guess, they have an impeccable selection of wines, and I had the opportunity to try a special small batch of orange wine from Australia, which was phenomenal.

Something I love about this restaurant is that the produce is sourced from traders in Borough Market, along with other farmers and fishermen in the UK and Europe, emphasizing the importance of sourcing local, which also made the dishes taste even better.

One thing they’re known for is their pizzas, which have the dough made without using additives in their wood-fired oven. I would recommend booking at least a week in advance if you want to check this place out.

Terra @ EATALY

🍽️ Italian | $$$ | Website | 📍 Google Maps (City of London)

A plate of Polpo dish from Terra @ EATALY

and gelato

EATALY is an iconic Italian marketplace equipped with takeaway eats, an impeccable wine selection, and mouth-watering restaurants and bars. It opened its doors in London a couple of years ago, following the success of other venues in Italy and the US.

Artisanal Italian Grill Terra is one of the restaurants located inside and is an all-around incredible dining experience. The atmosphere gives secret garden vibes, with hanging foliage and twinkling lights. The service is also very attentive.

From their grill menu, I tried the ‘Polpo’ dish of grilled octopus over a bed of mash, topped with savory salami crisps, and my friend had the bolognese. We both sincerely enjoyed our dishes, and what meal would be complete without a bit of gelato to cleanse the palette?

Fatt Pundit

🍽️ Asian Fusion | $$ | Website | 📍 Google Maps (Soho) | 📞 +44 207 287 7900

View of Indo Chinese dishes from Fatt Pundit

The first piece of advice I will give for this unique Indo-Chinese small plates restaurant in Soho and Covent Garden is to reserve a spot at Fatt Pundit in advance. Despite London being a city filled with incredible restaurants, there is certainly a reason that sought-after dining spots book up quickly.

Fatt Pundit is a tapas-style restaurant where your taste buds are guaranteed to be sent on a journey. The food is packed with bold flavors and the menu offers a range of dishes including different types of momos, popcorn cauliflower, sticky sesame vegetables (my favorite dish I tried), chilly prawns, Manchurian chicken, and more.

This cool spot in central London is one you want to be adding to your restaurant list.

L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele

🍽️ Pizzeria | $$ | Website | 📍 Google Maps (Marylebone) | 📞 +44 207 935 6458

A whole Diavola pizza from L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele
The spicy and delicious Diavola pizza

Arguably the best pizza joint in the city, this adorable spot with mouth-watering pizzas and fun neon signs is great for date nights in London. The concept was born in Naples, Italy with the first establishment opening in 1906, Michele’s restaurant eventually made its way to the Big Smoke.

Being a self-proclaimed pizza connoisseur, I have tried many pizza spots throughout my time in London and I have to say that this place is unmatched. The freshness of the dough, the ingredients, and the atmosphere of the restaurant makes it a must-visit spot for pizza lovers during a visit to London.

My favorite pizzas I’ve tried include the Diavola (pictured) which has a nice kick to it, and the Regina with a fresh burrata added on.

👉 Pro Tip: If you are going with a group, I would recommend sharing as the portions are generous, and you can try multiple kinds!

Fallow

🍽️ Modern European | $$$ | Website | 📍 Google Maps (Soho)

The juicy ‘Fallow Burger’ packed with dairy beef and crispy hen of the wood mushroom

Fallow is the type of restaurant that’s busy on a Monday night, so you can only imagine how sought-after this conscious gastronomic space located in the heart of St James is. Not only is the food flavorful, but the buzzing atmosphere makes it a great excuse to go out to eat any time of the week.

Known for its impressive Sunday roast, Fallow’s menu goes beyond the famous English staple with a diverse menu, catering to both plant and meat lovers alike.

We tried the vegetarian hen of the wood burger with a crispy mushroom in place of the patty, and a beef burger topped with the crispy mushroom, bacon, shallot, and cheese on a brioche bun. The caramelized cauliflower croquetas were also packed with flavor.

The Ivy Asia, St Paul’s

🍽️ Asian Fusion | $$$ | Website | 📍 Google Maps (Westminster)

Different dishes served in The Ivy Asia
Colorful sharing plates in an eye-catching setting at The Ivy Asia St Paul’s

The Ivy Asia restaurant offers a great variety of Asian fusion plates with everything from high-end sushi rolls to spicy dumplings, fancy cocktails, and much more. Some of my favorite dishes I tried were the wagyu beef and prawn tempura sushi rolls, pork and kimchi dumplings, spinach and mizuna salad, and hot and sour plum chicken.

A great benefit to the Ivy Asia is that they serve food later than many other restaurants in the city, especially on Friday and Saturday nights when the last seating is 11:30 pm.

Additionally, the setting is incredible and unlike any other. The establishment is so aesthetically pleasing and the atmosphere is lavish and fun, and you also get an incredible view of St Paul’s Cathedral from the large glass windows.

👉 Pro Tip: This restaurant was designed for sharing, so I would highly recommend going with a group to make the most out of the experience!

In the mood to experience Portugal but unable to visit this very second? Bar Douro is the next best thing to a trip to Porto, and luckily for you, it’s located right in Central London.

With the menu offering a variety of traditional dishes from Portugal along with its very own Portuguese wine shop, Bar Douro is one of my favorite restaurants.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is stunning and will make you feel as though you’ve been transported to Portugal for the evening, offering lovely textiles. You can find this hidden gem at London Bridge or City.

When two Americans decided to bring the taste of classic American cuisine to London over 50 years ago, Hard Rock Cafe was born. The classic American rock and roll restaurant picked up so much that you can now find it around the globe.

Beyond the juicy burgers and fruity cocktails, this world-renowned chain owns the largest and most valuable range of authentic music memorabilia around the world, appealing to lovers of music and making the atmosphere more unique.

The customer service is also top-notch, something I always really appreciate when dining out, as a former server.

In addition to the extensive regular menu offered that includes the likes of American classics such as steaks, fajitas, burgers, and flavourful salads, they are also constantly updating and creating themed menus.

Hard Rock Cafe has menus for special holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas, providing a place to celebrate with your loved ones, and disease awareness months where they donate a portion of the proceeds.

If you’re craving brunch and are hoping for something on the healthier side, then look no further than Delamina Marylebone. This adorable Eastern Mediterranean spot provides healthy brunch options without compromising on flavor.

I stumbled across this place after attending a workout class in the area and was so glad I did. Not only was the food and coffee delicious, but the service was also very quick and the atmosphere was great as well. Delamina Marylebone offers both indoor and outdoor seating during the warmer months, so you can have your pick.

I would highly recommend the benedict balagan (pictured); a healthier spin on eggs benedict that includes poached eggs with paprika hollandaise, smashed avocado, mixed peppers, sumac baby spinach, nigella seeds and crispy kale on toasted English muffins.

If you’re arriving with a big appetite, Inko Nito has a great tasting menu at around $55 per person. It will allow you to try a selection of several dishes on the menu.

My favorite dish was the Korean fried cauliflower sushi, which was a burst of flavor in one bite. Some of the other favorites we tried included the edamame (always a classic!), Japanese breadcrumb fried chicken, beef truffle sando, and aubergine.

This is a must-try, especially if you’re with a group, as the servings are large and the flavors will be sure to leave a memorable experience on your palette.

Temper

🍽️ Barbecue | $$ | Website | 📍 Google Maps (Covent Garden) | 📞 +44 203 004 6669

Temper is not your average BBQ joint, as they sustainably use meat from the whole animal, with all steaks butchered in-house from rare-breed British cattle.

Another unique element of this restaurant is that the kitchen is right in the center, which means that you are getting to see the live-action to go along with the wondrous smells and tastes of the food you’re experiencing.

A true sensory experience, Temper boasts a range of incredibly flavorful and tasty dishes on their menu, accompanied by a nice selection of cocktails and an extensive wine list. The atmosphere is intimate and makes a great setting for date night or a catch-up with a friend. You can find this delightful place in Covent Garden.

One of the highest-rated restaurants in London’s Chinatown, Leong’s Legend has one of the best dim sum deals you can find, with over 40 items to choose from and a bottomless option. You are guaranteed to leave full and happy.

Offering a selection of meat, seafood and veggie dishes, their menu goes beyond the traditional dumplings you typically find at dim sum. That being said, I would highly recommend trying as many dumpling flavors as humanly possible, as these soft luscious pillows of heaven do not disappoint.

Some favorites were the xiao long bao (soup dumplings), bbq pork buns, pork and prawn wontons in spicy sauce (pictured), and the black truffle dumplings.

Pachamama is truly one of my favorite restaurants I’ve been to since living in London, so much so that I’ve been to both of their locations. This chic restaurant serves Peruvian food using British ingredients, where they take simple dishes and bring out the most incredible flavors.

This restaurant provides an all-around great dining experience from the second you walk in the door. The vibe is very urban-industrial and is a great place to visit with a group of friends for dinner or bottomless brunch.

The sharing-plate style offered at Pachamama allows for the opportunity to try many of the flavorful dishes on the menu including crab and yuca churros, Galician octopus, ceviche, fried aubergine, and much more. You can try Pachamama in the neighborhoods of Marylebone and Shoreditch.

I genuinely do not have a single negative thing to say about this Izakaya-style Japanese comfort food restaurant in Soho. Shack-Fuyu has several tasty items on the menu that will have your mouth watering just from reading the descriptions.

If you plan to visit Shack-Fuyu on your trip to London, I would highly recommend getting the tasting menu (they also offer Sake pairings). Not only is this a great way to try several of the delicious food items on the menu, but it’s great value for money and the portion sizes are very generous.

Some of my favorite items on the menu include the miso aubergine, Korean fried wings (the most popular dish on the menu!), spicy sesame edamame, and prawn toast. Make sure you save room at the end of the meal because the kinako french toast with matcha ice cream will be unlike any dessert you’ve ever tried.

Despite there being many to choose from, Delizie D’Italia has made its mark as the best one I’ve had the pleasure of visiting.

Offering a fine selection of Italian take-home goods, this deli also serves breakfast and lunch for dine-in or takeaway and always has a line out the door (that’s how you know it’s good!) The best thing about this local dig is the impressive list of paninis offered.

Before trying afternoon tea, I thought it would feel like a very light lunch, however, the unlimited portions of scones with fresh jam and clotted cream, multiple flavor-infused seasonal sandwich offerings, and decadent desserts will have you stuffed to the brim by the time you’re ready to leave.

The tea selection at The Dorchester is phenomenal and you can add a glass of champagne to your meal if you’re feeling extra fancy.

The ramen at Tenmaru is not only the best ramen I’ve found in London, but the best I’ve had in my life (note that I have yet to visit Japan, which could change things). I tried the Tan Tan Men, which had delicious pork mince, egg, pak choy, sesame, spring onion, chive, and red chili in a rich broth.

A cute and cozy neighborhood joint that encourages the art of sharing, Morito is a special haunt with two locations in East London (Exmouth Market & Hackney). After visiting the Hackney location, I knew I had to come back and try the other, and it was the perfect spot to bring a friend who was visiting London.

Both locations offer a few of the same favorites, but also have a selection of dishes that differ. I’m always a sucker for tapas or any opportunity to try as many different dishes as possible, so if you’re in the same shoes,

I would recommend Morito for the great variety of dishes and intimate atmosphere. We decided to stick with veggie options this time and got the chicory salad, patatas bravas, Padron peppers, bread, and olives.

Noci is a cute and quirky Italian restaurant with three locations around the city. I visited the Islington location (pictured above) in North London and was left feeling more than satisfied with the food, service, and atmosphere. The other locations are in Battersea Power Station and Shoreditch.

From the moment you step into this Noci, you can feel a buzz from the atmosphere. I went on a Monday night, and the restaurant was packed. The service was some of the best I’ve experienced in London, and our server was very friendly and attentive.

Menu highlights include a selection of delicious Italian street food-style appetizers (I highly recommend the fluffy focaccia) and homemade silky pasta dishes. Not to mention, they have house cocktails on tap!

Nestled along the Thames in Hammersmith, West London, lies the famous River Cafe. A Stanley Tucci favourite, the restaurant has become so popular that they opened a more casual, sister restaurant next door called the River Cafe Cafe.

This Italian spot is one of London’s best kept secrets, serving some dishes off of the original River Cafe menu, in a more relaxed atmosphere that resembles a trendy modern art gallery.

I would highly recommend going with a few people and trying as many items as possible. My friends and I ordered a variety of appetizers, with a salad, seasonal squash, and focaccia being a few favourites. The dish that stole my heart, which I still think about, was their tagliatelle al limone, a pasta that’s both fresh and creamy, and very satisfying.

One of Notting Hill’s hottest new additions, Canteen’s cozy atmosphere and heartwarming dishes are sure to draw you in.

The restaurant has a rotating Italian menu filled with mouthwatering pastas, fish, and other items with unique flavours. I visited with a friend who couldn’t have dairy, and they are very accommodating to dietary preferences. We were even able to get dishes made without dairy that normally contain it.

The restaurant doesn’t take reservations, so I highly recommend putting your name in for a table and then wandering across the street to Franklin’s Wine across the street for a pre-meal tipple while you wait.

After seeing the hype Straker’s got on TikTok, I knew I needed to check it out to see if it lived up to it. Spoiler alert: it absolutely did, and there wasn’t a single dish I tried that I didn’t like.

Owned and run by celebrity chef Thomas Straker, this intimate restaurant is nestled on Notting Hill’s buzzy Golborne Road and is the perfect spot for a cozy date night.

Certain items on the menu rotate monthly, but we were delighted that the famous mussel flatbread was back on the menu, and had to give that a try. The stars of the show were the pink fir potatoes, which had the most incredible smoky flavour, and the melt-in-your-mouth steak. Make sure you save room for dessert and get the donuts for a sweet finish!

Daphne’s is likely to be one of the most beautiful restaurants you ever step foot in. From the second you step through the door, you’ll be greeted with friendly faces and a dining room full of tastefully selected decor.

The restaurant is quite fancy, making it the perfect spot for date night in London or a special occasion. You will find fine Italian fare, with everything from a selection of antipasti dishes to rich pasta and hearty mains of meat and seafood. They also have a vegetarian menu, a wine list, and specialty cocktails.

I visited this restaurant around Christmastime, which I highly recommend. They go all out on the decorations.

Granger & Co. was opened by the late Australian celebrity chef Bill Granger and lives up to the reputation Aussies have for doing a great brunch. Even with multiple locations in London, word of a good meal travels fast, so make sure you book in advance.

Something I particularly enjoyed about the theme at Granger & Co. is that the dishes are healthy and simple, but still carry a lot of flavour. One of the most popular items the restaurant is known for is the sweetcorn fritters (pictured above). I enjoyed these so much that I dug up a recipe online and tried them at home.

I would highly recommend visiting the location on Pavilion Road in Chelsea, and then having a wander around the lovely area after your meal.

Amongst a sea of fantastic Italian cuisine offerings in London, La Famiglia is a family restaurant located in the darling neighborhood of Chelsea. It has made its mark since 1966 and is still going strong.

My favorite thing about the restaurant, besides the food, is the friendly staff and authenticity that makes you feel as though you’ve been transported to Tuscany.

Offering both indoor and outdoor seating, this is a great restaurant to visit any time of year, but if you happen to go in the summer, they have a lovely outdoor terrace that adds to the dining experience.

Some dishes I tried when I was there, all of which were fabulous, included the Piccante Al Limone (pictured), Bruschetta Alla Romana, Rucola Con Parmigiano, and Girasoli Pomodori Secchi E Burrata, which was a special filled pasta from their seasonal menu.

Gold is the perfect spot for a girls’ night out or an afternoon lunch stop after wandering the luxurious streets of Notting Hill or scouring for your next vintage find at the Portobello Road Market. The restaurant offers a cozy neighbourhood feel by day and a vibey place for cocktails by night.

Everything we tried was packed with so many incredible flavours, and they utilize seasonal produce. My friend and I got all veggie sharing plates, and our favourites were the chickpea salad, chargrilled hispi cabbage, and roasted cauliflower.

This restaurant offers Sichuan-style street food, with options including dumplings and hand-made fresh noodles. Each dish is packed with flavor, and the prices won’t break the bank.

My favorite dishes I’ve tried include the hand-made wontons in chili oil, stir-fried beef Ho-fun, Shanghai-style juicy pork dumplings, and the freshly made flat BiangBiang noodles.

When it comes to the food, the Ivy offers a great menu with a balance of indulgent comfort food and fresh healthier dishes. I tried the Chicken Milanese accompanied by a truffle cream sauce and truffle chips because I was in the mood to treat myself.

Petersham Nurseries offers both a quaint Café and a Teahouse, situated amidst the enchanting Greenhouse and surrounded by florals, and features a seasonal menu mainly using fresh British produce. They also source some specialty ingredients such as olive oil, white truffles, parmesan, and vanilla pods from Italy.

Pubs are integral to the hospitality industry in London, making them a staple in the city. One of the best dishes native to London is a Sunday Roast which you’ll find at the Phoenix. Whether it’s pork belly, roast beef, chicken, or a nut roast you’re craving, many pubs offer these hearty plates every Sunday afternoon and evening. I have tried a few roasts since moving to the UK and my favorite one I’ve tasted so far was at The Phoenix, a character-filled pub in Chelsea.

I am a huge fan of Mediterranean cuisine, so I would say that I’m typically a tougher critic after trying quite a few restaurants within this category. I can say with transparency that I enjoyed every dish I tried. My favourite item was the Imam Bayildi, which is a slow-cooked stuffed aubergine with Turkish peppers, onions, and tomatoes. It was a simple dish done very well.

👉 Pro Tip: This restaurant is so intimate that it only seats 29 people at a time, so make sure you book in advance so that you don’t miss out on this hidden gem!

Appetizers at Minnow on The Pavement in Clapham

Minnow is a great little Modern European seasonal restaurant located in the heart of Clapham Old Town and overlooking London’s famous Clapham Common green space. They have a lovely patio alongside the front of the restaurant, making it the perfect spot to meet a friend for a glass of wine and a few bites.

The restaurant has a wide array of offerings, from brunch to lunch, dinner, Sunday roasts, and sharing plates.

I can also confidently say that their truffle chips are some of the best I’ve ever had. Other dishes we tried (all of which were delicious) include the aubergine fritters with salsa rossa, burrata, and the vegetable tempura with houmous and harissa.

The atmosphere at Minnow is also perfect for a date.

I would just like to start by saying that every dish at this restaurant looks like a work of art. Bala Baya is an Israeli sharing plates restaurant located in the heart of London Bridge. They take traditional Mediterranean dishes, adding a modern and creative twist to take your taste buds on a journey through Israeli culture.

I visited this place with one friend, which meant that we had to limit the number of dishes we chose, which was quite challenging, considering that everything on the menu sounded so good! Dishes we tried, all of which I would recommend, were the sweet butter hummus, aubergine mess, brisket doughnut, and the kebab dumplings.

I’ve heard incredible things about the prawn baklava, so I intend on going back to try it! Bala Baya also offers a tasting menu, which is a great option for trying a selection of dishes.

Sorella is a little Italian gem tucked away on a side street in the heart of Clapham Old Town. The atmosphere is incredible, with rustic wood furnishings and dim lighting. This makes it a great spot for date night or a catch-up with a close friend.

The menu at Sorella is filled with tasty Italian sharing plates, pastas, steak, and rich cuts of meat, along with sweet treats. There is also an extensive wine list, and the servers can recommend a wine that pairs nicely with your meal.

My favorite items that we tried were the truffle arancini and the chocolate mousse, both pictured above.

If it’s any testament to how great the food is, Flour & Grape opens at 6 pm and does not take reservations. We got there around 6 and we were, fortunately, able to get a table, it filled up within minutes!

This cute Italian spot offers a lovely selection of small plates, pasta, and desserts. Not only were the portions very generous, as you can see in the photo, but the prices were some of the most reasonable I’ve seen in London, especially for the quality.

The dishes we tried and loved at Flour & Grape included the three pasts pictured above, burrata, and bruschetta. They also offer some tasty wines to enjoy with the pasta, each with its fun little description of how it will taste.

Great British Benedict Rösti (It is bigger than it looks!)

Brunch is one of the best meals to go out for in London, as the city is swimming with great options to satisfy your sweet and salty morning cravings. HANNAH is a trendy restaurant and bar located in Southwest London that has a great brunch menu, filled with some of the classics as well as a unique spin on traditional brunch dishes.

The menu items that immediately caught my eye were the Röstis, a Swiss pan-fried potato pancake. HANNAH has three to choose from, each with its own unique flavors.

I tried the Great British Benedict Rösti (pictured), which consisted of a gruyère and potato rösti, porchetta, a poached egg and hollandaise, a special spin on the classic eggs benedict.

In addition to brunch, this spot also offers small plates, burgers, and a great selection of beverages, including self-pour beer taps!

Sea Bird certainly doesn’t shy away from a gorgeous atmosphere both indoors and on the terrace. It’s one of the best restaurants if you’re looking for a stellar view of the city.

A rooftop restaurant located in the Hoxton Hotel in Southwark, Seabird, as you can probably tell by the name, is known for its fresh seafood offerings, cityscape views, and the longest oyster list in London. If you’d like to experience this place for yourself, book in advance (perhaps by a couple of months!)

👉 Pro Tip: The main feature of this restaurant is its incredible view of London. Make sure to request the terrace when making a reservation.

Gordon Ramsay’s Street Pizza

🍽️ Pizza / Italian | $$ | Website | 📍 Google Maps (Battersea) | 📞 +44 207 592 1225

Gordon Ramsay is a British icon when it comes to all things food. Whether he’s critiquing dishes on popular cooking shows, writing his next cookbook, or opening up a new restaurant, he has a global reputation for being a master of food.

What if I told you that despite having celebrity chef status, Gordon Ramsay has opened more affordable dining options that won’t break the bank? Street Pizza is one of them, and if you’re a pizza fan, you are truly in for a treat.

With multiple locations across London, Street Pizza offers cocktails and bottomless pizza in a trendy and rustic space. You can get bottomless pizza for a reasonable price of only 16 pounds, with five different options to choose from served fresh from the oven.

The beauty is in the details, and you’ll have the chance to eat as many slices as you want and try all five flavors.

Milk is one of the best Instagrammable cafes in London. But its also a cafe where the taste of the food meets the ‘wow’ factor of the aesthetic. An artisan cafe with both indoor and outdoor seating, Milk will make all of your sweet and savory brunch dreams come true.

Open 7 days a week, you will see some of the most artistic brunch creations you’ve ever seen at Milk. It’s a neighborhood restaurant nestled in Balham, South London, and offers everything from unique sweet flavor blends on pancakes to eggs benedict on sourdough with decadent burnt butter hollandaise (pictured).

Spanish cuisine and plate-sharing style dining are popular around the world and for good reason. Lobos Meat and Tapas is one of the best Spanish plate-sharing restaurants in the city, offering a variety of vegetarian, meat, and seafood-sharing plates.

Some other great dishes I tried included the padron peppers, octopus (pictured above), charcuterie platter, ham croquetas, patatas bravas, and the garlic prawns. The dessert menu is also irresistible and I would highly recommend the dulce de leche cheesecake and double chocolate & pistachio cake!

Padella

🍽️ Italian | $ | Website | 📍 Google Maps (Borough / London Bridge) | 📧 [email protected]

If you’re looking for a cheap eat without compromising on quality, Padella is here to satisfy your fresh pasta cravings. This simple yet popular pasta shop offers freshly made pasta that is hand-rolled and served with a variety of tasteful sauces.

The restaurant was founded by two young men who took inspiration from their trips to Italy. The spot has two locations, one at London Bridge in Borough Market and the other in Shoreditch. With plates of pasta starting at 8.5 pounds, this is one of the most affordable and trendy Italian restaurants around London.

Although this fantastically affordable place doesn’t take reservations, you can head to the website and join the virtual queue so you’re not waiting long to try a delicious dish.

If you’re in the mood for a local neighborhood joint serving comfort classics in a cozy atmosphere, Megan’s fits the bill. The local chain is up to a whopping 19 locations within London and just beyond, having made its mark in the city.

The first thing that drew my attention to the local chain was its stunning decor. Between the twinkling fairy lights, greenery, and intricate textiles, you will feel as though you’ve stepped into a secret garden. Some locations even have an outdoor patio which feels just as magical.

I’ve visited for both brunch and dinner, and they have a generous menu. If you go for brunch and save room for dessert, I would highly recommend the half-baked cookie dough skillet. Make sure you check menus before visiting as they vary across the locations!

  1. My wife and I are visiting London, UK for 1 week in early May’26. We are staying at the Tower Suites Hotel right near the London Tower. Any suggestions for restaurants in that area. Thank you.

    1. Hi Charles,

That’s a really great central area to stay! Tower of London is also a wonderful museum where you can see the crown jewels. I would recommend Emilia’s Crafted Pasta (St. Katharine Docks location), it’s a no-frills Italian spot with great food and value for money. The pasta there is fantastic, and it’s less than a 10-minute walk. Another great spot in walking distance is the steak restaurant Blacklock (City location).

Hope you have a wonderful trip!

  2. Thank you for this list: The next time it is revised could you please add a header and organize it by area? It would be SO helpful. Thanks again.
