This may be an unpopular opinion, but I think there is no better time to explore Cape Cod than during the off-season for the perfect outdoor escape.

Imagine quiet beaches, solitary trails, and pizza over an open fire. Need I say more? Plus, Cape Cod is much easier to navigate with fewer crowds and a more tranquil environment.

I recently planned the perfect stay in Cape Cod — a chill weekend outdoors at a glamping property called AutoCamp Cape Cod. My trip here was the ideal combination of lounging, beach walks, and gathering around the fire with loved ones for s’mores.

In case you’re looking for the perfect off-season weekend getaway, this was my full itinerary. But first, here’s a quick overview of AutoCamp Cape Cod:

Friday Arrival: Settling Into the Adventure Tent Experience

We arrived at our glamping property, AutoCamp Cape Cod, on a Friday afternoon. We checked in with the concierge at the clubhouse. Together, we revised a map of the property, detailing the location of our Adventure Tent. The concierge was comprehensive in listing the amenities available to us. She even offered us a s’mores kit that can be purchased in their general store.

Our Adventure Tent was one of many accommodations on the property. Others were Airstreams and cabins. The Adventure Tent was a true outdoor experience without the hassle of bringing our own gear.

This custom-made glamping canvas tent offered many modern amenities. Let’s start with the king-sized bed and fold-out sofa. This space comfortably sleeps up to four guests with weighted down comforters.

Cookware is provided in the Adventure Tent. It features a mini fridge, a kettle, cooking utensils, a private fire pit, and a bundle of firewood.

After we settled into our Adventure Tent, we started the pit fire with the help of a video tutorial I found on YouTube. We made mini pizzas over the fire, followed by gooey, warm s’mores.

Satisfied with dinner, we made our way to the clubhouse to make new friends as we gathered for a movie night. We watched Disney’s Lilo & Stitch on a projector screen plopped on a plush couch that invited us to stay a while. The smell of freshly popped popcorn consumed the entire clubhouse.

Unfortunately, we didn’t make it through the entire movie. It was past our bedtime, and sleep crept in, enveloped by the soft, soothing light around us.

We opted for a quick shower in the spa-inspired bathrooms accessible in the clubhouse. The bathrooms are bright, clean, and minimal. They boast a design that’s modern and fresh.

Some key features worth mentioning are the spacious walk-in showers, the luxury bath products, and the fluffy bath towels.

Saturday at AutoCamp: Yoga, Beach Walks, and Local Bites

The Adventure Tent was very comfortable to sleep in. Plenty of space heaters were provided to keep us warm during the brisk nights by the ocean. We slipped into the provided cozy robes after waking up to the surrounding sounds of nature in the early morning.

We were up as the sun rose. We made our way to the clubhouse to brush our teeth and wash our faces with cool water, rinsing away the haze of sleep.

On our walk back to the tent, we discovered two baby foxes playing on the green lawn. It was such a special moment to witness with my daughter. We observed how the curious pups played and pounced at each other before running off into the distance down a hill.

As a yoga teacher and practitioner myself, I could not miss the morning yoga class. It was held in the clubhouse on the airy second floor with views of the ocean in the distance.

A local instructor led the class. It was ideal for all experience levels. I love to keep up my yoga practice while I travel, and this class was a great way to get my blood flowing before exploring more of the Cape.

After class, we refueled with a light breakfast in the clubhouse. They offered fresh fruit, granola, coffee, and a selection of tea.

Still a bit hungry, we decided to take an excursion into town. We were recommended to venture off to Pie in the Sky Bakery & Cafe. The lattes and breakfast sandwiches were exquisite.

There are so many things to do in Cape Cod, and we were ready to burn off more energy. We took a stroll down the Shining Sea Bike Path to Wood Neck Beach

It was a scenic experience with great views of Cape-style homes peeking through the marsh. And although it was brisk and overcast, we still enjoyed our walk along the water at the beach.

By late afternoon, it began to rain, so we made our way back to AutoCamp. We gathered in the clubhouse with familiar faces to unwind and create. We made bracelets together in this cozy setting on a rainy day, and it was an enjoyable activity for all ages. All materials were provided by the accommodation.

We started to get hungry again after making several bracelets. So, we did as the locals do and opted for seafood. You can’t visit Cape Cod without having fresh seafood.

We ordered takeout from Landfall Restaurant, the Fried Fisherman’s Platter. We enjoyed the generous serving of fries, clams, shrimp, and scallops, all delicately fried, from the comfort of our Adventure Tent.

Sunday in Falmouth: Brunch, Shopping, and Strolling the Streets

We ventured into the neighboring town of Falmouth after we checked out of AutoCamp on Sunday morning. We enjoyed a vibrant and flavorful brunch at Anejo Mexican Bistro. We had a full spread of chips, salsa, and guac, along with other great bites. They included the chorizo hash & eggs and the añejo nachos.

A post-meal walk was the perfect way to follow up our brunch. We wandered the streets of downtown Falmouth for a little shopping and explored the quirky gift shops, leaving with trinkets in hand. Snacks also came in handy for the drive back home.

  1. The Cape is beautiful! There absolutely is a lot to do during the off-season. For people who are into beaches, nature, and history, that can be accessed all year-long. The only thing that can’t be accessed is warm ocean water.
