The Benro MeFOTO Roadtrip PRO ranks as the overall best travel tripod for its versatility, stability, and compact quality. It’s a Swiss army knife of sorts, having built-in tools and several configurations. Benro markets it as a “six in one” product. Transform the standard tripod into a monopod, selfie stick, boom pole, high hat, and tabletop tripod — all with relative ease.

It has a maximum height of 60 in (1.53 m) with the center column fully extended. The tripod’s minimum height is 15.55 in (39.5 cm) with the center column inverted. This is great for macro photography and other low-angle shots. A rotating base captures panoramic images, and the ball head glides from landscape to portrait mode without resistance. 

The MeFOTO Roadtrip PRO is available as a carbon fiber tripod and as a more affordable aluminum tripod. I tested the former, which is the lighter, more premium version, and found it to be durable and secure. Its ball head, twist locks, and other components all functioned smoothly and intuitively. 

Certain features weren’t as intuitive, though. For example, the tabletop tripod is hidden within the center column. There are also several tools within the feet of this sturdy tripod. But Benro has a stellar, easy-to-follow tutorial video that allows users to make the most of their purchase. 

Other features include a bubble level on the base plate and a counterweight hook, granting even greater stability. The convertible Arca-style quick-release plate is one of my favorite aspects. It accommodates DSLR cameras and cellphones, ideal as I often capture content with both devices. 

To top it off, this tripod folds to a reasonably compact size and comes with a drawstring bag. It’s not the lightest product on this round-up, weighing in at 3.02 lbs (1.37 kg). However, it has a load capacity of 17.64 lbs (8 kg), which meets the needs of most photographers.

Professional creators on a budget will love the Punks Corey 2.0 Compact Travel Tripod by 3 Legged Thing. At 3.92 lbs (1.78 kg), it’s heavier than the other travel tripods on this round-up. But its weight and construction grant impressive stability.

Notably, the Punks Corey 2.0 can support up to 31 lbs (14 kg), suitable for even large cinema cameras. It has an incredible height range of 57.5 in (1.46 m) to 7.13 in (18.1 cm) given that the central column can be inverted. 

The compact tripod can also be converted into a monopod and boom pole, as well as a selfie stick. However, users will need to buy a phone mount separately, which is relatively standard among tripods. 

My biggest gripe about the Punks Corey 2.0 is its Parallel Lock system. During testing, the plastic Compression Washer stuck and cracked when first removing the central column. I suspect that other users have experienced similarly given the number of “how to replace” videos on the company’s website. Fortunately, I was able to follow along and resolve the issue. 

Despite this experience, I’m a fan of this travel tripod for its versatility and professional capabilities. It’s a great value at $199.99 and its 5-year warranty sweetens the deal.

The SIRUI T-005X is one of the lightest tripods on this list, weighing just 1.83 lbs (0.83 kg). It’s also quite compact with folded dimensions measuring 13 x 3 x 3 in (33.02 x 7.62 x 7.62 cm). This makes it a great pick for minimalist travelers, ultralight backpackers, and the like. 

Given its light weight, it has fewer features and therefore, less versatility than other tripods. The SIRUI T-005X tripod does not convert into other tools. It has a decent maximum operating height of 51.18 in (1.3 m). But note that this is shorter than other full-sized tripods I reviewed. Its minimum height is 12 in (30.48 cm) despite the center column being unable to invert. 

The safety lock on the base plate is one unique feature that further ensures a device is anchored. However, the included base plate solely fits cameras, but a phone mount can be purchased separately. Its load capacity is a reasonable 8.82 lbs (4 kg). 

Overall, the SIRUI T-005X is stable, even at its maximum load capacity and height. The product is well-constructed with aluminum, carbon fiber, and rubber. Its rotating base allows for panoramic captures and its ball head functions smoothly. The tripod also features a bubble level, but I wish its placement were above the ball head rather than where the three legs meet. 

The SIRUI T-005X definitely has its pros and cons. But it’s very lightweight and addresses creators’ basic needs. Plus, it’s a highly affordable travel tripod. Its $129.90 price tag and six-year warranty make it one of the best deals on this list.

No other travel tripod I tested has a greater height range than the GEEKOTO 77’’ Compact Aluminum Tripod. It has a maximum height of 77 in (1.96 m). This impressive reach is 25% more than even the second-tallest option on this list. 

Technically, the GEEKOTO expands to 82 in (2.08 m) when used as a monopod. It has a minimum height of 23.5 in (59.69 cm) and can be inverted for low-angle shots. Plus, it comes with both camera and phone mounts. It doesn’t convert into as many tools as the Benro MeFOTO tripod. But it offers basic functions to amateurs and experienced photographers alike. 

Those with heavy equipment will appreciate its solid load capacity. This tripod can reliably support up to 17.6 lbs (8 kg), which is right in line with the far more expensive Benro MeFOTO. The GEEKOTO is about 40% of the premium product’s cost ($89.96 vs. $221.84), making it an exceptional value.

It has some cons, though. Namely, the GEEKOTO tripod is comparatively bulky with dimensions measuring 19 x 5 x 5 in (48 x 13 x 13 cm). Additionally, it’s the second-heaviest product on this guide, weighing 3.37 lbs (1.53 kg). For reference, the SIRUI T-005X weighs just 1.83 lbs (0.83 kg) and offers similar functions — but a much more limiting height range. 

Height and value are truly the greatest differentiators of the GEEKOTO 77” tripod. The same can be said of the Sensyne-Phone-Tripod-&-Selfie-Stick discussed below. But the GEEKOTO is much more durable and stable, in my opinion.

• Height (5/5 Stars) – Undoubtedly, this tripod is a winner when it comes to height. It reaches an incredible 77 in (1.96 m), dwarfing even our second-tallest tripod tested (the Sensyne 62” Phone Tripod & Selfie Stick) by over a foot. 
• Density (4/5 Stars) – This is where the GEEKOTO “compact” tripod loses points. Comparatively, it’s the least compact with dimensions of 19 x 5 x 5 in (48 x 13 x 13 cm). Its included carrying bag is good quality, but adds even more bulk. 
• Stability (5/5 Stars) – I found this travel tripod to be very stable, even at its tallest setting. Its rubber feet grip well and all locking mechanisms are reliable.

This Sensyne tripod is best suited for capturing images and videos on cell phones. Its phone mount extends 2.8 to 5.7 in (7.11 to 14.48 cm) and accommodates an external microphone, great for content creators. A Bluetooth clicker is also included, ideal for solo travelers. 

In addition, the tripod comes with an action camera mount. It can also support compact digital cameras and others of similar size. But keep in mind its 2.2 lb (1 kg) load capacity, which is significantly lower than all other travel tripods on this list. 

This Sensyne model wins when it comes to height, though, lengthening to an impressive 62 in (157.48 cm). Fully extended, the tripod captures stable content — in the best possible conditions. 

It lacks wide, grippy feet and therefore, does not perform well on uneven terrain. Wind may also negatively affect performance given that its monopod-like design isn’t well-balanced. Flip locks and tripod head features are made of plastic, lacking the durability and functionality of competing products. 

But this Sensyne tripod is a great value and serves its purpose, albeit with less finesse. It’s incredibly user-friendly and ideal for travel at just 1.43 lbs (0.65 kg). The tripod doesn’t fold up as small as other models with a length of 16.2 in (41.15 cm). However, it’s only 2 in (5.08 cm) in width and height, tucking easily into the side of a carry-on bag.

As a content creator, I love traveling with the Benro Tablepod Flex Tripod Kit. Weighing 1.39 lbs (0.63 kg), it’s the most light weight product on this list. It’s also the most compact, measuring 12 x 3.5 x 2 in (30.48 x 8.89 x 5.08 cm). These dimensions do not include its bag, which is lightly padded but easily malleable, ideal for packing. 

This carbon fiber travel tripod is untraditional. It stands roughly 10.5 in (26.67 cm) with its rigid legs at the most acute angle setting. This height is standard among tabletop tripods. However, flexible legs are hidden inside the carbon fiber tubes. Using the extra included feet, attach these legs to the base and stack the rigid legs for a maximum height of 34.5 in (87.63 cm).

Alternatively, use the included lock ring and clamp to securely wrap them around a variety of props. Utilize a pole, a tree, or whatever else in your environment that will grant your preferred height. A well-constructed ball head allows for even more framing variety. 

The Benro Tablepod Flex tripod has its drawbacks, though. Namely, the flexible legs cannot wrap around objects with too wide of a circumference. They also do not easily slide back into the carbon fiber tubes once bent. 

You must also be mindful to screw the feet on before sliding the flexible leg into the tube. Failure to do so will almost certainly result in the leg becoming stuck. You can remove it with a small pair of pliers, but then run the risk of damaging the screw thread. I suggest simply storing the bendable legs inside the included tripod bag to avoid any hassle. 

Despite these qualms, I recommend this carbon fiber travel tripod for its size and versatility. It will support up to 6.6 lbs (2.99 kg), suitable for a compact camera or smartphone. The kit includes a phone mount that accommodates various devices. It extends from 1.89 to 3.94 in (48 to 100 mm).
